About the name: A closing kick is the final drive a runner makes to try to win the race. To have a strong closing kick, a runner develops timing and pacing, mental toughness and endurance, confidence and risk assessment, along with preparation through training.

Inspired by the insightful work of many, particularly Annie Duke and her book Thinking in Bets, I’ve come to see why studying decision-making is so valuable. That book helped me connect decades of reading, including Seeing What Others Don’t by Gary Klein and Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction by Philip E. Tetlock and Dan M. Gardner. I highly recommend Annie Duke’s course on Maven and Shane Parrish’s Farnam Street course.
